Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard worked with trainers Thursday afternoon as he remains in the concussion protocol.
Shepard, sidelined with the injury for nearly half the season, didn't partake in the team's practice as they prepare for the New York Jets. The 26-year-old spent the majority of the session working on the side — mainly running — with a trainer.
Head coach Pat Shurmur told reporters ahead of practice Shepard would not partake in any football activities as long as he remains in the protocol.

— Dan Duggan (@DDuggan21) November 7, 2019The Giants won't rush the fourth-year wide receiver back to the lineup, either. Shepard recently met with Dr. Joseph Maroon, a specialist in Pittsburgh, Pa., for further evaluation regarding his concussions.
"It was a good visit," Shurmur told reporters, via The New York Post. " We just got more information. So we'll just have to see. He's in the protocol. Probably won't be any activity this week and we'll just move forward from there."
Shepard has appeared in four games this season. He's already sustained two concussions in the short span — the first incident occurred in Week 1 against Dallas and missed one week as a result. After he tallied 49 yards against the Vikings on Oct. 6, Shepard, was ruled out with his second concussion and has since yet to see action.
It leaves the Giants to decide whether or not to shut Shepard down for the rest of the season and place him on injured reserve. Shurmur says, with Shepard's current status, the IR isn't in consideration right now, according to The New York Daily News' Pat Leonard.
