It's starting to smell like a fire sale.

A day after the Giants dealt cornerback Eli Apple to the New Orleans Saints, they've reportedly orchestrated another trade, sending defensive tackle Damon "Snacks" Harrison to the Detroit Lions.

The Giants are receiving a fifth-round pick in exchange for the All-Pro run stopper, according to multiple reports.

Big Blue signed Harrison as a free agent before the 2016 season, giving the former Jet a five-year, $46.25 million contract.

In his first season with New York, Harrison registered 86 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks and was voted a first-team All-Pro. The 6-foot-3, 355-pound defensive tackle had 76 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks in 2017. Through seven games this season, Harrison, 29, had 31 tackles and a forced fumble.

In a message message posted on Twitter, Harrison said his time in New York and New Jersey was special and said it was an honor to play for the Giants, which he described as "a classy and historic organization."

"During my team here I've gotten married, had my first son, learned to become a better man, and in my spare time I even managed to become a better football player," he wrote. "The things I've done professionally while here will be an afterthought in my mind compared to the people and connections I've made while here.

"I gave my absolute best every play of every game," he added. "Sorry I let you guys down. Looking forward to the next chapter in my story."

Much love to my teammates, the amazing staffs, coaches, and all the fans. This is my second home because of you...✌-- pic.twitter.com/4VUAjkIHlu

After losing to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night, the Giants are 1-6. The NFL's trade deadline is 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The Lions (3-3) have one of the NFL's worst run defenses. The line has been without end Ziggy Ansah most of the season. Former Giant Romeo Okwara has been in the rotation at end for Detroit.

Second-year pro Dalvin Tomlinson and rookie B.J. Hill will handle the Giants' tackle spots, backed up by veterans Josh Mauro and John Jenkins. Rookie RJ McIntosh has started practicing after spending the season on the non-football injury list.
