Victor Cruz’s story is one Giants fans will never forget — a scrappy underdog who fought his way onto the team to become an integral part of a Super Bowl championship run. Yet, there is still one sinking feeling the former wide receiver wishes he could have back.

The boat trip.

Cruz was among the Giants receivers who went on the infamous boat trip following the 2016 season, shortly before they were scheduled to play the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round.

Every Giants fan remembers the picture: Cruz, Odell Beckham Jr. and the rest of the Giants receiving corps had a boy band-like photo taken on a boat in Miami as the crew partied on their off day before a week of playoff preparation was set to begin.

Cruz appeared on E’s “Pop of the Morning” on Wednesday and spoke about the “incident.”

“It was right after a game, and we were just about to go into the playoffs, and although we had the day off, we went to Miami,” he said.. “We had a good time, it was New Year’s Day, we came back the next day, didn’t break any rules. This photo will haunt me for the rest of my life.”

It’s true – the Giants players did not break any rules and head coach Ben McAdoo defended their decision to spend their off day however they liked. Yet, the story took a life of its own and what happened in that game against the Packers made it worse.

The Giants were trampled by Green Bay, 38-13, and were sent home. It would prove to be Cruz’s final game in the NFL, hauling in just three receptions for 30 yards in the loss.
