— Brett Cyrgalis (@BrettCyrgalis) March 6, 2020 The young goalie suffered a non-displaced rib fracture in a Brooklyn car accident Feb. 23, less than two weeks ago. At the time, it was a tough blow for the Rangers, who were on a hot streak thanks to the 24-year old Shesterkin. But the young goalie will be returning to a team that’s still very much in a playoff race.Without Shesterkin, the Blushirts have gone 3-3, giving up 23 goals in those games. But as of Friday, Mar. 6, they’re just two points behind the Islanders for the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference.

After being called up earlier this season, Shesterkin exploded on the scene, taking over as the Rangers No. 1 goalie. The Russian goaltender won nine of his first 10 NHL starts, with a  .941 save percentage and 2.18 goals-against average.
