Bilal Powell's time with the New York Jets appeared to be over, but that won't be the case.

On Friday, the Jets announced they have agreed to terms on a deal with the running back. The terms of the deal have not yet been announced. Powell suffered a neck injury in Week 7 last year that caused him to miss the rest of the season.

Powell was averaging 4.3 yards-per-carry on the year before he got injured. He had a solid return of 343 yards on 80 rushes, while also making 11 receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown. At times he was one of New York's best offensive threats.

As is sometimes the case with neck injuries, there was concern that the 30-year-old's injury could end his career, but it turned out to be a treatable issue with a bulging disk. Powell had surgery in October and was cleared to return to football back in May.

Le'Veon Bell is the new starting running back in town, but that doesn't mean there isn't a role for Powell. If he is healthy, he should be able to fit in well as a backup running back who can contribute on the ground and in the air.

Powell has been with the Jets his entire career after New York took him in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
