Robby Anderson could be set for another season with the New York Jets.

Anderson gelled well with Sam Darnold at times last year, and he may have another chance to do so in 2019. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Jets have given a second-round tender to the wide receiver. Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the tentative deal is worth approximately $3.1 million.

The #Jets are giving promising WR Robby Anderson a second-round tender, source said. Would be curious if that draws an offer sheet, but if not, another year in the fold for NYJ.

This move means that other teams can offer terms to Anderson, but the Jets would have the option to match any offer sheet put forward. New York would receive a second-round draft pick in compensation if Anderson does end up signing somewhere else in the NFL.

Anderson played 14 games for the Jets in 2018. In that time, he made 50 receptions for 752 yards and six touchdowns.

He has thrived on the field at times, but he has also had his issues with the law off the field.  Anderson, 25, was arrested in early 2018 in Sunrise, Florida, on nine charges, including resisting an officer, harming a public servant or family member and eluding a law enforcement officer with sirens on. He also committed several traffic offenses, including reckless driving, speeding and running two red lights, police initially said. Those charges were all dropped, other than the reckless driving misdemeanor.

In May 2017, Anderson, who was born in Fair Lawn, New Jersey but moved to South Florida as a child, was arrested at the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami and was charged with a felony count of resisting arrest with violence as well as obstruction of justice, a charge that was also eventually dropped.

Anderson's breakout campaign came in 2017, when he managed seven touchdowns on 63 receptions and 941 yards.

If he stays in New York, Anderson could prove to be a key part of Adam Gase's offense this coming season.
