The Jets picked up a win against the Giants, but they also picked up a couple injuries.

A victory against the Giants means Adam Gase’s team have improved to 2-7 on the season. The Jets’ schedule is quite easy over the next few weeks, but they’ll have to navigate it without a few offensive starters.

Gase told reporters Monday that tight end Christopher Herndon fractured a rib and will be out for an "extended period of time." The head coach also announced that right guard Brian Winters dislocated his shoulder and will likely miss the rest of the season.

The game against the Giants was the season debut for Herndon, who was suspended for the first four games of 2019 under the league’s substance-abuse policy. After his activation, he suffered a hamstring injury which had kept him out until Sunday.

Now the rest of Herndon’s season could be in jeopardy. The Jets are technically still alive, but making the playoffs would require a miracle that almost certainly won’t be coming. It might be wise to shut Herndon down to preserve him for next year.

There's also no need to rush Winters back. His injury is actually a re-dislocation of a shoulder he had already been having trouble with. The 28-year-old has started every game of the season up to this point and will be a big loss on an offensive line that has already had its struggles this year.

Sam Darnold will have to do his best to lead the Jets' offense without Herndon and Winters. The unit looked good Sunday, but that was against a poor Giants' defense.
