The Jets added some help on both sides of the trenches in the third round of the NFL draft on Friday night.

A day after selecting Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams with the third overall pick, Gang Green took Florida edge rusher Jachai Polite with the 68th overall pick. They later traded up one spot to 92nd overall and selected USC offensive tackle Chuma Edoga.

As a junior at Florida last season, the 6-foot-2, 242-pound Polite had 45 tackles, 19 1/2 tackles for losses and 11 sacks. He showed an explosive first step and good quickness in college, but some scouts believe he gets pushed around too easily and gives inconsistent effort.

Polite also had a disastrous combine, which included running a relatively slow 4.84 40-yard dash and raising questions about his maturity in his interviews. He also pulled out of some drills with a hamstring injury.

New York sent a seventh-round pick to the Minnesota Vikings for the chance to draft Edoga. At 6-3, 308 pounds, he is relatively small for an NFL offensive tackle but has long arms, moves well and has a powerful punch. Scouts, however, believe he needs to add strength and lacks discipline on the field.

The Jets did not have a second-round pick this year after trading up with Indianapolis in the first round in 2018 to position themselves for Sam Darnold.
