New Jets coach Adam Gase is expected to hire Dowell Loggains, his offensive coordinator last season in Miami, for the same role with Gang Green.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Dolphins have granted Loggains permission to talk with other teams and won't block him from taking another job.
In Loggains' lone season as Miami's offensive coordinator under Gase, the Dolphins had the NFL's 31st-ranked offense, as they averaged just 289.9 yards per game. Gase, not Loggains, called the plays for the Dolphins. Gase has already said he plans to continue handling play-calling duties with the Jets.
MORE: Keidel: Jets May Have Found Something Good In Gase Loggains, 38, also spent two seasons as the Bears' offensive coordinator, from 2016-17. In Chicago, his offenses ranked 15th and 30th. He was the offensive coordinator in 2013 for the Tennessee Titans, where his offense was the league's 22nd best.
Loggains interviewed for the Dolphins' head coaching vacancy. That job, however, is expected to go Patriots linebackers coach Brian Flores.
