Jets fans have dreamed for nearly two decades of the day Tom Brady would finally leave the New England Patriots.
That day came Tuesday, but Gang Green supporters on Twitter weren't as jubilant as you might expect. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Brady is expected to land with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Sure, they're happy that Brady announced his "football journey will take place elsewhere." But many also quickly took stock of their own team, noting how quiet the Jets have been since the legal tampering period of free agency began Monday while AFC East rivals Buffalo and Miami have made big splashes.

— Roy L. Pickering Jr. (@AuthorofPatches) March 17, 2020On the day Brady leaves NE, the #Jets have the worst roster and HC in the division. Seems fitting. https://t.co/PldO7x05aJ
— Louie (@Louie_Rock) March 17, 2020Took 20 years for brady to leave the division. Thank god we are ready for the takeover with Braxton Berrios at WR and a brand new swing tackle. #Jets
— THE HAM MAN (@brendan524) March 17, 2020Others expressed skepticism that Adam Gase is the right coach to take advantage of the post-Brady era in the AFC East, assuming the iconic QB wouldn't pull a surprise and sign with the Bills or Dolphins.
!!Tom Brady gone from the division..but Adam Gase is still our coach and we just got lapped by the Dolphins and Bills in 16 hours of free agency #jets pic.twitter.com/Ek9380d77Q
— SoCal Jets (@Jets_fans_only) March 17, 2020Tom Brady's reign over the jets is finally over! But now at least for another year our downfall will be a coach who can't/ refuses to adjust and out coaches himself #NYJets
— pj muller (@pj1390) March 17, 2020And this Jets fan, meanwhile, was relieved the Brady news overshadowed COVID-19, at least for a little while.
As a #Jets fan living in NE I never thought I'd say this...thank god the news is talking about Brady leaving NE and not the #coronavirus for five seconds --
