A year ago, Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan traded up to the third overall pick to draft a quarterback. Now that Sam Darnold firmly entrenched in the starting lineup, Maccagnan is open to sliding down from the third spot.
"Right now, we feel good at No. 3, but I would definitely say if there's an opportunity to trade down, we would absolutely look at it," the Jets GM said during his news conference Wednesday at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis. "There's nothing that's transpired at this point in time.
"If there's an opportunity for us to move back and acquire more picks, that's definitely something that we'd be potentially be interested in."
Maccagnan also didn't rule out making a swap with the Giants, who might be looking to move up from No. 6 to position themselves for a quarterback.

"I think I'd be open to any team," Maccagnan said. "As long as the trade made sense to us, there's nothing that would stop us from doing that."
Maccagnan was also asked if he'd consider trading for disgruntled Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown.
"My policy is I pretty much call everybody at some point in time, about every name that flies out there, just to see," he said.
"That's something we haven't really ventured too far into yet. At this point in time, we're sort of evaluating the free agency market. That's a trade market. We'll see how that one unfolds."
Earlier Wednesday in his own news confernece, new Jets coach Adam Gase revealed that the team will run a 3-4 defense under coordinator Gregg Williams. Williams has largely favored a 4-3 system, although the 3-4 is far from foreign to him.
"That's the beauty part about hiring a guy that's been around for a long time," Gase said. "He's done multiple things over his career."
Gase said the reason for sticking with the 3-4 is to "keep as many of the players that are currently here that understand that style of defense."
