The Jets have just dodged what could have been a costly injury.

Wide receiver Jamison Crowder had to leave Monday’s practice to get an MRI on a possible foot injury, but the results of that MRI must have been negative, as the Jets announced that Crowder is cleared to practice again on Wednesday.

Crowder was one of New York’s big offensive free agent acquisitions over the offseason. Former GM Mike Maccagnan signed Crowder to a three-year, $28.5 million contract in March. He’s set to be one of Sam Darnold’s main passing targets for the season ahead.

A foot injury is always a concern, especially because Crowder has some history in that department too. He missed seven games last season with the Redskins after hurting his right ankle, but this time he seems to have avoided any problems. This scare was concerning his left foot.

Crowder spent the first four years of his career with Washington. In his injury-shortened 2018 campaign, he had just two touchdowns and 29 receptions. Crowder's career-high for touchdowns in a season is seven, which he managed in 2016.

The early buzz out of Jets' training camp was that Crowder and Darnold had been getting on well together and establishing chemistry. An injury threatened to derail that, but now the two can get back to establishing a connection on the practice field before the new season.
