The Jets are in danger of running out of linebackers.

C.J. Mosley was recently ruled out for 5-6 more weeks due to a groin injury that his been nagging him all season, and the news is even worse for Blake Cashman.

According to a report from Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, Cashman has a torn labrum and a fracture in his shoulder which will keep him out for the rest of the season.

Cashman, who is in his first year in the NFL, suffered the injury in practice on Wednesday. Adam Gase told the media on Thursday that he was “worried” about Cashman’s injury, and this report appears to be why.

In Mosley’s absence, Cashman had started the last five games for the Jets. The fifth-round pick from Minnesota had 40 tackles and a fumble recovery to this point of the campaign.

The injury to Cashman comes at a time when the Jets’ schedule gets much easier. Their next six games are winnable matchups against the likes of Miami, Washington, Cincinnati and the Giants, but improving that 1-6 record over the next few weeks will be a bit tougher with two key linebackers on the sidelines.

Albert McClellan, Avery Williamson and Neville Hewitt are other linebackers currently unavailable for the team. McClellan and Williamson are both on IR.

The Jets face the winless Dolphins on Sunday as they try to rebound from a two-game losing streak.
