Quincy Enunwa is officially done for the 2020 NFL season.
The Jets placed Enunwa and wide receiver Josh Bellamy on the reserve PUP list on Tuesday, according to Ian Rapoport at NFL Network.
Enunwa was already unlikely to play, but Tuesday’s decision was more of a confirmation that he and Bellamy will not suit up this season
The 28-year-old wide receiver was signed to a four-year, $36 million extension at the end of the 2018 season, but Enunwa has only played one game since the extension with three years remaining on the contract.
Enunwa is guaranteed a base salary of $6 million this season, and cutting him would not make much sense, as it would cost the Jets $11.4 million in dead money. They could cut him after June 1 or the 2020 season and he would only cost $7.8 million in dead money and nothing against the cap.
In five seasons with the Jets, Enunwa has 119 receptions for 1, 617 yards and five touchdowns.
