Jets backup quarterback Trevor Siemian will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury, coach Adam Gase said Tuesday.
Siemian was starting in place of Sam Darnold, who is out with mononucleosis. Siemian was 3-of-6 passing for 3 yards on Monday night.
The Jets signed the former Broncos starting quarterback to a one-year, $2 million contract this offseason to give Darnold an experienced backup. Now the Jets will have to rely on Luke Falk, who was signed off the practice squad Monday and had never taken an NFL snap before stepping in for Siemian against Cleveland. Gase said Falk will be the Jets' starting QB until Darnold returns.
Falk was 20-of-25 for 198 yards with no turnovers against the Browns, but the Jets only scored three points with him under center.
