Jim Leyritz Rips Yankees Officials For No Old-Timers' Day Invite

Yankees' Old-Timers' Day is an opportunity for retired franchise greats to once again don the pinstripes and hit the field at Yankee Stadium for a short, friendly exhibition game.

That is if you are asked to participate in the festivities. 

Former Yankees catcher Jim Leyritz took to Twitter to voice his displeasure about not receiving an invite to Old-Timers' Day, singling out Team President Randy Levine and Senior Vice President of Marketing Debbie Tymon.

Yes it’s a joke already. Randy Levine and Debbie Tymon have said I didn’t do enough in Yankee history to be invited. How many sliders did they hit. Lol

Leyritz spent parts of nine seasons with New York, and was a member of both the 1996 and 1999 World Series Championship teams.

The 54-year-old retired catcher would later claim he thought his comment was made in a private tweet, and said the franchise has treated him well in every way except an invite to Old-Timers' Day.

Making their Old-Timers' Day debuts this year are Andy Pettitte, Jason Giambi, Nick Swisher, and Dion James. In addition, Yankees manager Aaron Boone will also be participating in the festivities for the first time.

The Old-Timers' Day roster also includes Hall of Famers Whitey Ford and Reggie Jackson, as well as David Cone, Paul O'Neil, John Flaherty, Bucky Dent, Lou Piniella, Willie Randolph, and many more Yankee greats. 

The 72nd annual Old-Timers' Day will take place on Sunday, June 17 at Yankee Stadium ahead of the team's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Fans are asked to be in their seats by 11:30 a.m. for Old-Timers' introductions with the game to follow.
