The Knicks have wasted no time in starting their search for Jeff Hornacek's replacement as the team's next head coach.
Jerry Stackhouse is already in New York to meet with Knicks executives, beginning a week of interviews with several of the franchise's top candidates.
Stackhouse became a top coaching prospect after spending the last two seasons leading Toronto's G League team. The 43-year-old coach led Raptors 905 to the championship series both years, winning the title last season while also receiving Coach of the Year honors.
The NBA veteran, who has also been linked to the openings in Charlotte and Orlando, spent 18 seasons as a player in the NBA.
New York will reportedly interview two other top options on Wednesday when they sit down with Mark Jackson and Mike Woodson.

Jackson is a Queens native and former St. John's star who had two stints with the Knicks during his 17-year playing career. The 53-year-old, who is currently serving as a game analyst for ESPN, recorded a 121-109 record during his three seasons as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors before being let go for not getting along with the front office.
New York's head coach opening is Jackson's dream job, according to Isiah Thomas.
Woodson, an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Clippers, is another familiar face to the franchise, as the 60-year-old spent over two seasons as the Knicks' head coach.
Woodson took over for Mike D'Antoni as New York's interim head coach on March 14, 2012. Under Woodson, the Knicks went on to finish the season 18-6, which earned them a spot in the postseason. New York would lose to the Miami Heat, 4-1, in the first round of the playoffs, but Woodson had done enough to earn the title of full-time head coach.
Over the next two seasons, Woodson put together a solid 91-73 record, which included an appearance in the 2013 Conference Semifinals. But one week after the conclusion of the 2013-14 season, newly-appointed team president Phil Jackson fired Woodson and his entire staff.
Woodson was known to be beloved by team owner James Dolan.

Another name expected to interview for the opening this week is David Fizdale.
Fizdale, the longtime assistant-coaching stud, was fired as head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies in November after just 101 regular season games. The 43-year-old was 50-51 with the Grizzlies, including a postseason appearance in his first season with the team.
The young coach had a public feud with Memphis center Marc Gasol this past season. The relationship had gotten so bad between the head coach and All-Star center that ownership had to decide between letting the coach go or trading their best player. Memphis decided to keep Gasol.
Fizdale will also interview with the Phoenix Suns, while Charlotte reportedly has heavy interest in him as well.
One candidate who is scheduled to interview with New York next week is former Cavaliers head coach David Blatt.
Blatt went 83-40 during his season-and-a-half with Cleveland, which included a loss in the NBA Finals during his only full season with the franchise. The 58-year-old was fired due to his poor relationship with superstar LeBron James.
The head coach is one of the most successful American coaches in European basketball history. In 2014, he led Maccabi Tel Aviv to a EuroLeague Championship while also receiving EuroLeague Coach of the Year honors. He then led Darussafaka of the Turkish Super League to a EuroCup Championship in 2018.
