Knicks' Barrett Selected To Play In Rising Stars Game

Knicks rookie RJ Barrett has been selected to play in the NBA's Rising Stars game as part of All-Star Weekend.

Barrett, who is from Canada, is slated to play on the World team.

The third overall pick in last year's draft, Barrett has played in 41 games and is averaging 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

In order, however, to play in the Feb. 14 game in Chicago, Barrett will first have to prove he's healthy. He's been sidelined for the Knicks' past seven games with a sprained ankle. He is expected to be re-evaluated Saturday.

SNY's Ian Begley reported Friday that Barrett is unlikely to play in the Rising Stars game as the Knicks take a cautious approach with his ankle.

Barrett was the only Knick picked for the showcase. No Nets players were selected.
