The Jets are probably used to being the butt of jokes by now.

The franchise hasn’t had much success in recent history, especially in this century. And when things have been bad for the Jets, they’ve been really, embarrassingly bad. Thus, the jokes sometimes write themselves.

On Sunday’s episode of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Larry David made quite a few jests at the Jets’ expense.

David, who is obviously best known for creating “Seinfeld,” was born in Brooklyn and speaks often about his experiences suffering as a fan of both the Jets and the Knicks. He clearly had some fun with it for this episode, and he did so in his own classic style of dark humor.

In the episode, one of David’s friends, Carl, commits suicide after he had earlier been heard complaining about an injury to Le’Veon Bell. After reading his suicide note, David remarks that “the Jets killed Carl, and a little bit of the Knicks.”

As David says, the 2019 season was particularly frustrating for the Jets. Expectations were high at the start of the season, but injuries and other issues caused the team to get off to a terrible start, which put them out of playoff contention quickly.

“Last year started with such promise then Darnold gets mono, season’s over by Game 3,” David quips later in the episode.

When David tells Carl’s widow why he thinks her husband killed himself, she agrees and says: “the ****ing Jets.”

If you’ve got HBO, check out the episode and all it’s hilarious Jets references.
