Scott Perry is staying with the Knicks.

The team's general manager has agreed to return in the same role on a one-year contract, as first reported by Newsday's Steve Popper.

Perry's status with the team was uncertain since the hiring of Leon Rose as team president, and the general manager had a mutual option deadline for the 2020-21 season approaching on May 1.

"Scott is a well-respected basketball executive who I have known for more than 20 years, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with him as we look to build a winning team in New York," Rose said.

While Perry is returning, there is no guarantee that the general manager's hand-picked staff underneath him will also return for the 2020-21 season, whose contracts expire in August.

Since Perry has taken over as general manager in 2017, his tenure has included the Kristaps Porzingis trade to the Dallas Mavericks, which resulted in Dennis Smith Jr. and two first-round picks, as well as the draft selections of RJ Barrett and Mitchell Robinson.
