NEW YORK (WFAN) -- His job's no joke, he's not broke and his love life's not DOA, but Aaron Boone still needs his "Friends" every night.

The first-year Yankees manager revealed to WFAN's "The Afternoon Drive With Carlin, Maggie and Bart" on Thursday that he is a huge fan of the iconic TV series.

"Every single night, I lay my iPad in my bed, and I fall alseep to 'Friends' episodes," Boone said. "I watch Season 1 through 10, and then I start from the beginning. So I've watched a million episodes."

Maggie Gray asked Boone about the show after learning that many Yankees players, including Latin American players learning English, often watch it. She was surprised to find out just how big of a fan Boone is. So naturally, there were some follow-up questions.

His favorite character?

"I'll go Rachel," Boone said.

Did he cry when Ross and Rachel broke up?

"She needed to kick him to the curb," he said. "I was all good with that."

Was there a point when he thought the series jumped the shark?

"Maybe when Chandler goes to Tulsa to take the job in Tulsa," Boone said. "Maybe we were starting to see the beginning of the end."

ROSTER ALMOST SET

Boone said he hopes to make a decision on the final Opening Day roster spot this weekend. He said he and other team officials are leaning toward keeping 13 pitchers and the decision is coming down to right-handers Domingo German and Jonathan Holder.

"Do we want to go with a guy who's more of a starter?" Boone said. "Do we want German to go down and continue to pitch as a starter and be an option to come up?"

SURPRISED BY WALKER

When they signed second baseman Neil Walker last week, the Yankees were prepared for the possibility that he wouldn't be completely ready by Opening Day because of his abbreviated spring training. But Boone said he's been plesantly surprised by the 32-year-old infielder.

"His swing, in a lot of ways, seems like it's in midseason form," Boone said. "I mean, he looks really good and comfortable at the plate. But what I've been excited about is how well he's bounced back from the workload we've put on him. From a conditioning standpoint, he's ahead of where I thought he would've been, and that's why I'm so optimistic he'll be 100 percent ready to go by Opening Day."

STANTON IMPROVING IN LEFT

When asked what grade he would give Giancarlo Stanton's play in left field at this point, Boone said a B.

"I think he's getting more and more comfortable by the day," Boone said. "I think the work that he's put in on the back fields behind the scenes with (outfield instructor) Reggie Willits has been really good."

Stanton is expected to see time in left field, in right field and at designated hitter. The slugger's natural position is right field.

DL LIKELY FOR ELLSBURY

An oblique injury and the flu have limited Jacoby Ellsbury to just 12 at-bats this spring. While he has finally returned to game action, Ellsbury will likely begin the regular season on the disabled list, Boone said.

"We'll probably have him stay down here (at the Florida spring training facility) and hopefully just continue to build up the reps, continue to get his at-bats, and then hopefully not too long before we see him," Boone said.
