Yankees great Ron Guidry, promoting his book "Ron Guidry: My Life in Pinstripes," stopped by the WFAN studios to share some stories with "The Afternoon Drive" crew.

Among the tales Louisiana Lightning told was about the first time he stepped foot inside the old Yankee Stadium in 1975.

"I approached right behind home plate," the Cy Young Award winner said. " ... I remember walking up, and that green grass -- I had to take another breath of air or else I'd have passed out. And I noticed the blue seats -- all of that.

"And then in my mind, I started to envision Ford pitching and Mantle in center field and DiMaggio running next to him, and Yogi catching. All of this starts to go through your mind, and you realize ... I had actually just reached my dream. And I had goosebumps as big as golf balls."

"And then I left, and I walked down the runway that you take to walk all the way to the clubhouse. And every day after that for 14 years, every day when I took that walk, I had the same goosebumps because I walked through those same hallowed halls as all those players I just mentioned that walked before me. And it was just mesmerizing."
