Luke Voit Makes Cut For Yankees' ALDS Roster

The Yankees have released their 25-man roster for their AL Division Series against the Twins, and it includes Luke Voit.

After manager Aaron Boone announced Thursday that pitcher CC Sabathia, who is battling a shoulder issue, would not be on the ALDS roster, the Yankees opted to go with 12 pitchers and 13 position players. Sabathia's absence likely made the decision easier to put Voit on the roster. The power-hitting first baseman is currently mired in a 1-for-29 slump dating back to Sept. 15.

There weren't any truly major roster surprises, but a couple of the more interesting moves were:

• Tyler Lyons got the nod over Stephen Tarpley and Nestor Cortes Jr. for the final left-handed reliever spot.

• Mike Ford, who has a similar skill set as Voit, was left off the roster while the more versatile Tyler Wade was selected.
