The Jets hold the third overall pick in April's NFL Draft, but they may not end up using it.

Owners and executives from across the league are currently gathered in Phoenix, Arizona for the NFL's annual owner meetings. The draft, which is exactly a month away, has been a common topic at the meetings.

Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan spoke to the press on Monday and admitted that the Jets would be open to trading down in the first round.

"We're very open to potentially moving back," said Maccagnan. "We'd be intrigued by that … I wouldn't envision us trading up in the draft. You can rule that one out."

Maccagnan added that he has already received a few calls about the pick.

New York also had the third pick in last year's draft. They used that selection to draft QB Sam Darnold, who the team will now try and build around for the future.

A few different mock drafts on CBSSports.com have the Jets using the pick this year on Josh Allen. Allen is a linebacker and is of no relation to the Bills' Josh Allen. He played four years at the University of Kentucky and in 2018 won the Chuck Bednarik award, which is given to the top defensive player in college football.

The Jets can fill a need on the edge by drafting Allen, but they could possibly fill multiple needs by trading back, depending on what they get in return.

If they do decide to trade the pick, there will undoutedbly be quite a few suitors looking to swap for a higher draft position.

The 2019 NFL Draft gets underway on April 25 in Nashville, Tennessee.
