Devin Mesoraco will be back for another year with the Mets.

The 30-year-old catcher was acquired from the Cincinnati Reds on May 8, 2018 in exchange for Matt Harvey. On Thursday, the team announced that they had re-signed Mesoraco to a minor league contract.

Mesoraco’s return will give the Mets some more depth behind the plate. Wilson Ramos was recently signed to join Tomas Nido and Travis d’Arnaud at the catching position. Ramos and d’Arnaud each have had problems with injuries in the past.

A minor league deal brings Mesoraco back for cheap. He can go to spring training and make his case for the big league roster.

In 2018, Mesoraco had 11 home runs, 33 RBIs and a .221 batting average in 84 games played for the Reds and Mets.
