What is the deal with Seinfeld and the Mets?

The Mets announced Friday they will host "Seinfield Night" at Citi Field on July 5 to mark the 30th anniversary of the premiere of the iconic sitcom. The promotion, which is a partnership with Sony Pictures Television, will reunite Mets great Keith Hernandez with Jerry Seinfield, and the first 25,000 fans in attendance will receive Jerry Seinfield bobbleheads.

"Two of my favorite things in all the world are the comedy arts and my New York Mets," Seinfeld said in a news release. "This is one moment that I am very happy to have my 'Worlds Collide!'"

"This is an exciting announcement for us," said Lou DePaoli, the Mets' executive vice president and chief revenue officer. "Seinfield and the Mets are a natural fit, and we are extremely happy to be able to put this together. Our fans are going to love what we have in store for them, so giddy up!"

Hernandez played himself in a 1992 episode of "Seinfield." In it, he became friends with Jerry, dated Elaine and was accused of spitting on George and Kramer.
