The New York Mets and Yankees have officially released a ticket refund policy for games that have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Each team’s website details credits being issued to season ticket holders, partial plan holders, group ticket purchasers and individual game tickets purchased on games in March and April.
Fans may also opt for a refund instead of a credit:
Mets ticket holders but must submit an online request via their My Mets Tickets account, which will begin on May 7 at 10 a.m. Yankees ticket holders are being told to contact their ticket representative or visit their Ticketmaster account.
If tickets were purchased by a third-party, or any party that was not the Mets, must contact that party directly.
Mets
Group or individual ticket purchasers for Opening Day will receive priority access for the first ticketed games for the 2020 regular season or 2021 Opening Day at Citi Field.
Any ticket holder can use the credit toward a 2020 or 2021 regular season game at Citi Field (subject to availability), while season ticket and partial plan holders could also use their credit toward a 2021 season ticket package, a 2020 and 2021 regular season prepaid parking at Citi Field, and 2020 and 2021 concessions at Citi Field.
These ticket holders will also receive an additional a bonus credit equal to 20 percent of their 2020 season ticket payments, a maximum credit of $15,000 per account, that can be used for:
-2021 season ticket package upgrade
-Group and individual tickets to 2020 and 2021 regular season home games
-2020 and 2021 prepaid parking at Citi Field
-2020 and 2021 concessions at Citi Field.
The bonus credit would expire at the end of the 2021 regular season.
Group ticket and individual ticket purchasers would receive an additional 10 percent bonus credit (maximum $15,000 per account) toward 2020 or 2021 regular season games.
Yankees
Season ticket licensees, group ticket, individual suite ticket and individual game ticket purchasers will receive a game credit to their account equal to the established price of the ticket. The ticket holder can use the credit on another 2020 or 2021 regular season home game, or in accordance with the rain check policy. Season ticket licensees can also use the credit toward 2021 season ticket renewals.
Fans who bought tickets through the Yankee Stadium Ticket Office can exchange tickets via the rain check policy through the end of the 2021 season.
Season ticket licensees, group ticket and individual game suite are also eligible for a 10 percent bonus credit up to a maximum of $25,000.

On Monday, April 20, a Mets and Yankees fan filed a lawsuit against MLB after claiming they were not being refunded for tickets that they had purchased.
At the time, MLB had been treating games that were not played as postponements rather than cancellations.
