Mike Francesa believes the possibility of Mariano Rivera getting into the Hall of Fame by unanimous vote is being overblown.
"I don't know about you, but to me, this is where sports gets mindless," Francesa said on his show Tuesday, hours before this year's class of Hall of Famers is set to be revealed. "Why do I care if Mariano gets 100 hundred percent or not? Who cares? Mariano's not the greatest player of all time. He's the greatest closer of all time. He's one of the great clutch players. But there have been better players. There were better players than Mariano that didn't get in on the first round (of voting).

"There have been plenty of guys who should've been in on anybody's ballot, and it hasn't happened. So if it doesn't happen now or does it, I could care less. I mean, that's the most meaningless thing in the world. Why does anybody care about that? He's going to get in. That's all that matters."
