It's apparently Jets or bust for Mike McCarthy.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the former Green Bay Packers coach doesn't want to be considered for any other head coaching job other than the Jets'.
Former Packers' HC Mike McCarthy doesn't want to be considered, and isn't pursuing, any other HC vacancy other than the New York Jets', per source.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 9, 2019The Jets interviewed McCarthy, 55, on Saturday. He had a 125-77-2 record over 13 seasons with the Packers, leading them to the playoffs nine times, to the NFC championship game four times and to a Super Bowl championship following the 2010 season.
Despite having an accomplished résumé, McCarthy hasn't been a particularly hot candidate this offseason. The only other team to express interest in him has been the Cleveland Browns, but he never interviewed there. The Browns, meanwhile, are reportedly promoting interim offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens to head coach.

Now the question is whether the Jets feel as strongly about McCarthy as he does about them. The team has also interviewed Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, former Dolphins coach Adam Gase, Cowboys defensive backs coach Kris Richard, former Lions and Colts coach Jim Caldwell, former Buccaneers offensive coordinator Todd Monken, former Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury and Baylor coach Matt Rhule. Kingsbury was hired Tuesday as the Arizona Cardinals' head coach.
The Jets job is widely considered to be one of the most attractive among the eight coaching vacancies in the NFL this offseason. The team has a young, promising quarterback in Sam Darnold, nearly $100 million available to spend in free agency and the third overall pick in April's draft.
