Mitchell Robinson won't be able to suit up for the Knicks in their season opener.
New York's new campaign gets underway Wednesday night when the Knicks face the Spurs in San Antonio. Robinson will miss the game after suffering a sprained ankle while grabbing an offensive rebound during practice on Monday.
Robinson misses out, but Taj Gibson, who had been dealing with a sore calf, will be available for David Fizdale's team.
Injury Report: Mitchell Robinson (sprained right ankle) is out and Taj Gibson (sore right calf) is available.
— NY_KnicksPR (@NY_KnicksPR) October 23, 2019It's unclear how the Knicks will line up with Robinson out of the squad. Julius Randle will be making his debut for his new team and could fill Robinson's spot at the center position.
There is quite a bit of excitement about Robinson this year after he showed signs of potential last season. The Knicks will be hoping he can continue to hone his shot-blocking abilities while also improving his play on offense.
Marcus Morris will be available for the Knicks, and he will probably get booed by the fans in San Antonio. Morris had a verbal agreement with the Spurs this offseason before he changed his mind and opted to sign with New York.
