The Islanders' days in Brooklyn will soon be over, according to a report Friday.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo is expected to announce Saturday that the Islanders will play any home playoff games this year and next year, as well as their entire 2020-21 home schedule, at Nassau Coliseum, Newsday's Randi F. Marshall reported, citing multiple sources.

The Islanders are currently constructing a 17,113-seat arena at Belmont Park, which is expected to open in time for the 2021-22 season. Meanwhile, they're splitting home games between Brooklyn's Barclays Center and the Coliseum in Uniondale.

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has repeatedly said he doesn't consider the Coliseum to be up to league standards. Last season, the NHL approved the Long Island arena to be used only in the first round of the playoffs.

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran sent a letter last month to Bettman requesting the Islanders be permitted to play at the Coliseum throughout this year's playoffs. Bettman said initially the request was "a little premature," Newsday reported.

The Islanders (35-20-8, 78 points) currently hold the top wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

The team called Nassau Coliseum home from 1972 to 2015 before relocating to Barclays Center. In Brooklyn, fans complained about obstructed-view seats and poor ice quality, while many supporters who lived on Long Island did not like the long commutes.

If this is indeed it for the Islanders at Barclays Center, their final game in Brooklyn will be played March 22 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
