The NHL might already have a goal of the year candidate on its hands.
Devils' forward Blake Coleman put the league on notice in New Jersey's season opener against the Jets on Friday. During the latter stage of the second period, defenseman PK Subban cleared the puck from the zone. Coleman fought off the Jets' Dmitry Kulikov to extend New Jersey's lead 4-0. The goal seems simple enough, right?
Well, the fourth year Devil did it all while one-handed. Coleman's arm was interlocked with Kulikov before the Devil managed to slip the puck past Laurent Brossoit.

October 5, 2019 All eyes leading up to the game were either fixated on No. 1 pick Jack Hughes or the debuting Subban and Nikita Gusev. Coleman, however, was the one to leave the Devils' faithful in awe with his second goal of the game. The 27-year-old bested Brossoit earlier in the period, as well, but without the dramatic flair of the second tally.

October 5, 2019 Coleman comes off his most impressive season since he was selected 75th overall in the 2011 NHL Draft. He recorded 36 points in 78 games for the Devils last season, fifth among New Jersey forwards.
His impressive night, unfortunatly wasn't enough for the Devils to grab both points against Winnipeg. The Devils fell short in a shootout as they squandered their four-goal lead in the 5-4 loss.
