The New York Jets got a big boost with quarterback Sam Darnold returning from mono in Sunday's 24-22 win over the Dallas Cowboys. On Tuesday, the team took a step backward with one of the men protecting their franchise signal caller.
Alex Lewis has started the last two games at left guard in his place. SNY's Ralph Vacchiano recently reported that Lewis might have replaced Osemele for the starting spot even if the injury had not occurred.
Osemele was also a candidate to be traded by general manager Joe Douglas, who was looking to unload some of the team's higher priced free agent signings. He's due $11.7 million in 2020.
A two-time Pro Bowler in 2016-17, Osemele has played 96 career games: four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens (2012-15) and three with the Oakland Raiders (2016-18).
