Jets Interested in Signing Logan Ryan: Report

The NFL Draft is fast approaching, but the Jets are first looking to bolster their defense through free agency, according to a report.

Team officials have discussed signing defensive back Logan Ryan, the New York Daily News reported.

Jets brass would have to get creative to free up the necessary cap space for Ryan, the report said, who could be seeking around $10M on a one-year deal.

Ryan, 29, is a smart, flexible cornerback who made his bona fides with the Patriots after they picked the Rutgers product in the third round in 2013. He spent the past three seasons with the Titans, and is coming off one his better statistical years with 83 tackles and four picks. Pro Football Focus tagged him with a pedestrian grade of 64.

Interestingly, the report surfaced on the same day it was reported All-Pro safety Jamal Adams would be skipping Jets' voluntary "virtual" OTAs, adding another chapter in their ongoing contract negotiations. Ryan, a sound tackler who's not afraid to mix it up in the box, could be headed for a transition to the safety position, the Daily News story said.
