In July 2019, first baseman Pete Alonso addressed a message to Mets fans. He made it clear that his goal to make history. The post, shared over 4,000 times, inspired the #LFGM hashtag and became a rallying cry for Mets fans over the next handful of weeks.
On Thursday, the Mets parted ways with manager Carlos Beltran. The nine-time All Star didn't get to experience his first game as a manager before New York decided to move on from Beltran, who was named in the MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred's report of the Houston Astros sign-stealing scheme.
Alonso, hours after Beltran's dismissal, had another message for Mets faithful: 'The boys will be ready.'
"Yes: there's a lot of craziness in the baseball world right now," Alonso said. "At the end of the day, we have to do our job on the field and win the battle between the lines. Great things are to come this year. The boys will be ready. #LFGM"

— Pete Alonso (@Pete_Alonso20) January 16, 2020Mets pitcher Marcus Stroman responded to Alonso's post with a similar sentiment, "I'm ready to rock my bro." Stroman, earlier, took a moment to reflect on the latest developments, highlighted by the firing of Boston's Alex Cora, Houston's AJ Hinch and Beltran for their involvement in the scandal.
Sheeeeeeeeeesh.
— Marcus Stroman (@STR0) January 16, 2020"This is crazy," Stroman said. "Truly can't believe all this s- coming out in baseball. Just going to sit back and see how it all plays out. I know my thoughts but those will stay internal. I've learned that "no comment" is the best option at times!"
For Stroman, spring training is under a month away. Mets' pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report for spring training on Feb. 11. Alonso and the rest of the position players report five days later, Feb. 16. The individual expected to lead the Mets and replace Beltran remains unanswered.
