Pete Alonso is having a rookie season for the record books. On Sunday, the Mets first baseman broke another record. Alonso became the first rookie with 50 home runs and 30 doubles after doubling in the 1st inning.
Alonso came into the game Sunday with 50 homers, just two shy of tying the all-time rookie homer record set by Aaron Judge's 52 in 2017.
The Mets slugger has already set the NL Rookie home run record and has set the Mets franchise single-season record, which was 41. Alonso has seven more games to try and pass Judge in what has been a truly historic first season in the big leagues.
