After releasing Trumaine Johnson and Darryl Roberts last week, the Jets were in desperate need of cornerback help. On Sunday, they reportedly agreed to terms with one who figures to step into their starting lineup in 2020 — former Colt Pierre Desir.
Desir, 29, is expected to sign a one-year deal that could pay him as much as $5.5 million, according to multiple reports.
Desir began his career in 2014 with the Cleveland Browns, for whom he played two seasons. He spent one year with the Chargers before signing with the Colts in 2017.
The 6-foot-1, 192-pound Desir joins a Jets cornerback group that also includes Brian Poole, Nate Hairston, Bless Austin and Arthur Maulet.
