Rangers prospect K'Andre Miller is ready for the NHL. 

On Monday, Miller officially signed his three-year entry-level contract with the New York Rangers. He was selected 22nd overall — the eighth defenseman — in the 2018 NHL Draft and widely considered one of the Rangers' top defensive prospects. 

Miller will forego his junior and senior seasons at the University of Wisconsin. The Rangers revealed Miller's contract will begin at the start of the 2020-21 season. He tallied 18 points — seven goals, 11 assists — during his sophomore campaign for the Badgers.

At the 2020 World Junior Hockey Championships, the 20-year-old appeared starred on the United States' blue line. He notched two assists in five games before the United States' semifinal exit.

Miller will earn an average value of $1.275 million, according to Cap Friendly. 

Miller's collegiate season ended following Wisconsin's elimination from the Big 10 Tournament. All eyes turned towards whether Miller would turn pro or remain at Madison for at least another season. According to Todd Milewski of the Wisconsin State Journal, the initial belief was that Miller could join the Hartford Wolf Pack, the Rangers' AHL affiliate, for their playoff run on an amateur tryout contract. 

The American Hockey League (AHL), however, recently suspended its season due to concerns regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus). The NHL is facing a lengthy layoff due to the health crisis and it hopes to re-open camps and facilities in late April, according to Sportsnet's Chris Johnston.
