NEW YORK (WFAN) -- The Giants and Jets are reportedly among the teams that will host Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Baker Mayfield for private visits before next month's draft.
Sports Illustrated reported Thursday the Jets will also work out the Oklahoma quarterback after his pro day next week in Norman, Oklahoma. Mayfield will also visit the Cleveland Browns.
The Giants own the second overall pick in the draft. New general manager Dave Gettleman has said Eli Manning will go into the season as the starting quarterback, but the Giants could be looking to add the eventual successor to the 37-year-old QB.
The Jets have the sixth pick. They will reportedly pursue Kirk Cousins in free agency, but with stiff competition expected for the 29-year-old Pro Bowler, they may have to turn their attention to the draft as Plan B.

Four quarterbacks this year could be selected in the top 10 picks, but there's no consensus among draftniks about how to rank Mayfield, USC's Sam Darnold, UCLA's Josh Rosen and Wyoming's Josh Allen.
Mayfield went from walk-on at Oklahoma to one of the most decorated quarterbacks in college football history, passing for 14,607 yards in his career, which ranks seventh all-time in college football. Last season, he threw for 4,627 yards with 43 touchdowns and just six interceptions while completing 70.5 percent of his passes.
According to an NFL.com scouting report, Mayfield's strengths as a pro prospect are his toughness, competitiveness and leadership as well as his decision-making and accuracy. His biggest weaknesses include his height (6 feet 1 inch) and his lack of experience in a pro-style offense.
