Muhammad Wilkerson is in trouble with the law again.

The former Jets defensive lineman was arrested earlier this week in New Jersey and charged with DWI, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a report from NFL Network’s Mike Garofalo.

This is the second DWI arrest for Wilkerson in the last year. In June of 2019, Wilkerson was charged with drunken driving after he was pulled over for running a stop sign in Manhattan. This latest DWI is also apparently for alcohol use.

According to the New York Post, Wilkerson and a passenger in his vehicle, Jihad Ballard, were arrested on I-80 in Paterson. Both men were released and will have a court date set.

Wilkerson’s most recent NFL action was with the Packers in 2018, but he was only able to play in three games for Green Bay due to ankle injuries. He remained a free agent throughout the 2019 season, possibly due to concerns over his run-ins with the law.

After seven years with the Jets, Wilkerson was released by New York in February of 2018. In those seven seasons, the Elizabeth, New Jersey native managed one Pro Bowl appearance and two appearances as a second-team All-Pro.

Wilkerson is still only 30-years-old, but he may now find it much harder to get a contract in the league this offseason. One DWI is a concern, and two could be interpreted as a sign that he has not learnt from his past actions.
