Former Yankees slugger Edwin Encarnacion is headed to Chicago.
Encarnacion reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the White Sox on Wednesday, according to multiple reports. The deal is worth $12 million and includes a team option for the 2021 season.
The 36-year-old appeared in 44 games after being dealt to the Yankees last season. Encarnacion tallied 37 RBI and 13 home runs as a Yankee, but battled his fair share of injuries throughout his 15th major league season.

As the Yankees began their postseason run, the three-time All Star underperformed at the plate, notably finishing 1-for-18 and walking four times against the Houston Astros in the American League Championship Series
In October, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman declined Encarnacion's option — worth $20 million — for the 2020 season, making the veteran an unrestricted free agent.

The White Sox, who finished 72-89 last season, commenced their roster overhaul when they signed two-time All Star Yasmani Grandal to a four-year, $73 million contract on Nov. 21.
Since signing Grandal, the White Sox re-signed star outfielder Jose Abreu and reportedly inked pitchers Dallas Keuchel and Gio Gonzalez to bolster their rotation. Encarnacion is forced to wait the majority of the season before he faces his former team.
Chicago hosts the Yankees in August, beginning with the first-ever event at the Field of Dreams in Iowa.
