Free agent cornerback James Bradberry will reportedly reunite with a familiar face on his next team

Bradberry agreed to a three-year, $45 million deal with the New York Giants — roughly $32 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Bradberry will join his former general manager Dave Gettleman as the NFL's third-highest paid cornerback.

Gettleman, then with the Panthers, selected Bradberry in the second round of the 2016 Draft. The 26-year-old would go on to start in 60 games over four years before he became an unrestricted free agent. In 2019, Bradberry led Carolina with three interceptions and tallied 65 tackles.

Carolina would've been forced to pay Bradberry $16 million if it were to use the franchise tag. Instead, the Panthers let Bradberry hit the market.

The Giants have long showed interest in acquiring Bradberry once Monday's legal tampering period would begin. A previous report indicated Gettleman would need to pay Bradberry roughly $15 million per season in order for his services.

That's roughly what it took to sway New York's in Bradberry's favor. He'll earn $15 million annually, substantially less than Byron Jones' mega contract.

Miami signed Jones, who is considered above only Bradberry as the top available CB, to a five-year, $82.5 million contract in order to make the cornerback the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL. Jones will receive $40 million in his first two seasons, according to Schefter.

New York finished tied for 25th in total interceptions last year as the Giants secondary. Gettleman remained diligent and made sure to address the team's defensive woes from a season ago in his first day of free agency.

The Giants placed the franchise tag on defensive lineman Leonard Williams earlier in the day.
