Joe Douglas lost Robby Anderson, but he’s apparently already found one player who may be able to help fill the void.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets are signing Breshad Perriman on a one-year deal worth up to $8 million. The wide receiver is coming off a relatively productive season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he scored six touchdowns in 14 games.
It seems likely that Douglas and company will still want to acquire more weapons for Darnold on offense. That can be done in free agency, or it can be done in the NFL draft. To this point, Douglas has primarily been focusing on patching up the Jets' offensive line.
The Jets lost their top wide receiver, and he likely won’t be easy to replace. Still, Perriman’s addition would give Adam Gase’s team a bit more depth at the position, and a one-year deal is a relatively team-friendly contract.
Perriman should add quite a bit of speed to the offense. He's known for his incredible pace, which makes him a serious threat running down the sidelines.
