Report: Kyrie Irving Could Miss 2-3 More Weeks

Kyrie Irving's return to the Nets' lineup has reportedly experienced a disappointing setback.

Irving played in just one game since he sustained a shoulder injury against the Utah Jazz on Nov. 12. The Nets classified Irving's injury as "right shoulder impairment" and hasn't been cleared for contact in the time since. According to Heavy.com's Brandon 'Scoop B' Robinson, the Nets will likely be without Irving for the next two to three weeks.

Head coach Kenny Atkinson commended Irving's ability to play against the Denver Nuggets — two days after he allegedly suffered the injury — and told reporters Irving "gutted that one out". He shot 8-of-20 and recorded 17 points in the loss.

All eyes were on the Nets superstar as he walked onto the Barclays Center court Monday night in part of the second annual Kyrie Invitational, where six high school basketball teams faced off against each other. Robinson, citing a Nets organizational source, indicated Irving is suffering from thoracic bursitis, where the bursa becomes irritated and inflamed

Irving has appeared in 11-of-30 games this season. His four-year, $141 million deal with the Nets was the marquee signing during the free-agent period. The Nets, however, are thriving without two of their top two superstars as Kevin Durant also recovers from injury.

Brooklyn won six of its last nine outings, including impressive wins over the Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers. Since Irving's been sidelined, the Nets are 12-6 and maintain the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference.
