The Knicks will be without their top rookie for a while.
RJ Barrett sprained his right ankle during Thursday night's 121-98 loss to the Suns when he was fouled by Phoenix's Ricky Rubio while driving to the basket. Barrett, the third overall pick in last year's draft, was using crutches after the game.
The Knicks announced Friday that X-rays on Barrett's ankle were negative and that he will be re-evaluated in one week.
In 41 games, Barrett is averaging 14.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
The Knicks are 11-31, the second worst record in the Eastern Conference.
