Giants tight end Kaden Smith is flourishing in the absence of Evan Engram.
Smith, who began the year with the San Francisco 49ers, sealed the 41-35 win for New York in a shootout meeting with the Redskins. Running back Saquon Barkley carried a significant amount of the workload en route to his career-high 189 rushing yards, but it was Smith who quarterback Daniel Jones sought for in the game-clinching situation.

— New York Giants (@Giants) December 22, 2019The touchdown at 4:15 in overtime marked Smith's second tally of the game. He caught a 9-yard pass from Jones in the third quarter, extending New York's once distant lead over the Redskins.
Quarterback Case Keenum, who relieved the injured Dwayne Haskins, led Washington to the 14-point rally, capped off by his touchdown with 29 seconds left in regulation.
New York claimed Smith off waivers following Week 2. He'd rarely seen the field until Engram and backup tight end Rhett Ellison sustained became sidelined with their respective injuries.
The win over Washington was Smith's first multi-touchdown game of his budding career. Smith, a sixth round pick in 2019, recorded 170 yards on 23 receptions this season.
