Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes is about to embark on his comeback tour.
Over 500 days have passed since Cespedes last played in an MLB game as he was barraged with a slew of injuries. With spring training set to begin next month, Cespedes provided fans with an optimistic update Monday afternoon.
Cespedes posted a 48-second video, captioned with an hourglass, of him training at the Mets' facility in Port St. Lucie, Fla., where he showcased the progression in his running and at the plate.

— Yoenis Cespedes (@ynscspds) January 20, 2020Cespedes appeared in 118 games since he signed a four-year, $110 million deal in Nov. 2016. He's struggled to stay on the field.
In 2018, Cespedes underwent season-ending surgery to remove bone calcification in his right heel. He ultimately had a procedure done to both heels. The 34-year-old was left with the belief that he would eventually return for the 2019 season, but a freak accident on his ranch prevented him from taking the field.
The Mets' slugger, who recorded 29 RBI in 38 games in 2018, fractured his ankle following a confrontation with a wild boar. He was set to earn $29.5 million this season, but the Mets' reduced his base pay to $6 million. He'll become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the 2020 season.
Position players are scheduled to report to spring training on Feb. 16.
