Yankees general manager Brian Cashman made it clear Friday that he hopes to turn the page on Sonny Gray.
At the team's season-ending news conference, Cashman said the right-handed pitcher is on the trading block.

The Yankees acquired Gray in a July 2017 trade from Oakland, but he struggled so much this past season that he was demoted to the bullpen and then was left off the postseason roster.
The 28-year-old pitched in 30 games (23 starts), going 11-9 with a 4.90 ERA. He is arbitration-eligible this offseason and is set to hit free agency following the 2019 season.
"It hasn't worked out thus far," Cashman said. "I think he's extremely talented. I think that we'll enter the winter, unfortunately, open-minded to a relocation. I think to maximize his abilities, it would be more likely best somewhere else."

Cashman indicated that if he cannot find a match in trade talks, he's prepared to hold on to Gray. He also said he expects Gray to return to the All-Star form he showed in Oakland earlier in his career.
"While he's here, we're going to do everything in our power to find a way to tap into his talent," Cashman said. "We've been unable to do that now for a year and a half. I do think that if I do find a match somewhere for him at some point, then you're going to see what we hoped to see here."
