David Tyree is leaving the Giants.
The 40-year-old Super Bowl hero had been working with the team as director of player development since 2014 but is stepping down to open up a Clean Juice shop in Morristown, New Jersey, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.
Tyree has a special place among Giants fans for his famous Helmet Catch in the final drive of Super Bowl XLII, which helped Big Blue topple the undefeated New England Patriots.
Tyree played from the Giants from 2003 to 2008 mostly on special teams – reaching the Pro Bowl in 2005 – and spent a season with the Baltimore Ravens before retiring from football in 2010.
"I was honored to serve and impact the players for the past six years for the most iconic franchise in NFL history," he told ESPN. "I wish the Giants and Coach Judge the best moving forward into the 2020 season. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to my personal and professional growth along the way. Once a Giants always a Giant."
The Giants have restructured their player engagement area this offseason and Tyree will be replaced by the Giants' director of wellness and clinical services, Dr. Lani Lawrence.
