The Metro Nashville Police Department arrested Michael Mosley, a suspect in the fatal stabbing of Long Island University quarterback Clayton Beathard, on Wednesday afternoon.

Mosley faces two counts of criminal homicide and is being held without bond after he was allegedly involved in an incident in which Beathard and a friend, Paul Trapeni III, were stabbed at a Nashville bar early Saturday morning. A third victim, 21, was ultimately released from the hospital.

Nashville police acted quickly in its search for Mosley, issuing an arrest warrant for both homicide charges. He was also charged with attempted criminal homicide, which carries a $5 million bond.

Mosley surrendered to Metro Nashville SWAT, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and U.S Marshals Fugitive Task Force members as well as Midtown Hills Precinct detectives after police initially sought the 23-year-old for questioning.

Beathard appeared in seven games at LIU — his junior season — after he transferred from Iowa Western Community College.

LIU head coach Bryan Collins, who shared an emotional statement in wake of the incident, took to social media to express his gratitude to those who played a part in Mosley's arrest.

Beathard, 22, is the brother of San Francisco 49ers quarterback C.J. Beathard and country music star Tucker Beathard. He's also the grandson of NFL Hall of Fame general manager Bobby Beathard.

"We are thankful that he is off of the streets," Beathard's father, Casey, told The Tennessean. "We are sad because two incredible young men are missed. The only thing that holds us together is trusting God. We are in awe of all of the good we have already seen him working in and through this tragedy."
